Spring / Lente

Here it is; the very first tulip in bloom in my garden. Spring must be on its way now, right??

Hier is hij dan; de allereerste bloeiende tulp in mijn tuin. De lente is nu echt in aantocht, toch??

Fast forward / Snel vooruit

Only a week ago I was told I was allowed to start walking again. And when I tried I had to scratch my head and think of how on earth I was supposed to do that. But I rapidly improved. By now I walk without crutches indoors and with just one when out. It is just a case of not too much and not too long. My ankle still swells up pretty big pretty fast so I still spend quite a bit of time with my leg up high. But that does not bother me. Most of all I see huge steps forward and I even dare show a picture of my leg again!





Nog maar een week geleden werd mij gezegd dat ik weer mocht gaan lopen. En toen ik dat probeerde krabbelde ik mij op mijn hoofd om te bedenken hoe dat ook al weer moest. Maar ik ging snel vooruit. Nu loop ik al zonder krukken binnen, en buiten met maar één kruk. Het is voornamelijk een zaak van niet te lang en niet te veel. Mijn enkel wordt nog steeds vrij snel vrij dik dus zit ik nog steeds vaak met mijn been omhoog. Maar dat geeft niet. Voornamelijk zie ik grote stappen vooruit en ik durf zelfs al weer een foto van mijn been te laten zien!

My world is expanding / Mijn wereld vergroot zich

Monday morning I heard the roar of a chainsaw. And before I knew it there was a hole cut in my fence behind the woodpile. A man climbed through it, and started to remove the leads for the climbers there. After that, he took the fence down. Literally making my world bigger than my own back yard again.

Maandagochtend hoorde ik het geluid van een kettingzaag. En voordat ik het zag was er al een gat gemaakt in mijn schutting achter de houtstapel. Er klom een man door, en hij begon met de geleide draden voor de klimplanten weg te halen. Daarna, verwijderde hij de hele schutting. Mijn wereld is nu letterlijk weer groter dan mijn eigen achtertuin.

Taken last Saturday, she said she is going to quit today.....guess the pressure is on now I posted this on the world wid web huh??

Afgelopen zaterdag genomen, ze zei dat ze vandaag zou stoppen......ze zal de druk wel voelen nu dit op internet staat denk ik??

Going out / Naar buiten

Being allowed to walk again had to be celebrated of course. So yesterday Nina and I walked (!!!) to the cafe around the corner and had a lovely lunch. We than walked back again, and I stopped to get something from the shop on the corner. My first purchase in months. An exciting one too: toilet bowl cleaner.
Today I meant to go to church but it was raining too much. And I did not want to crawl up those wet steps. It is fairly dry out now, so I will walk to the letterbox. First time in months I will get to mail my own mail.
I still walk with crutches. It is kinda hard to 'roll' my foot properly. I'm sure the physical therapist will give me excercises for that tomorrow.

Dat ik weer mag lopen moest natuurlijk gevierd worden. Dus liepen (!!!) Nina en ik gister naar het café om de hoek om lekker te lunchen. En toen weer terug gelopen, onderweg gestopt om iets in de winkel op de hoek te kopen. Mijn eerste aankoop in maanden. Een zeer opwindende: WC reiniger.
Vandaag was ik van plan naar de kerk te gaan maar het regende te hard. En ik wilde niet de natte trap opkruipen. Het is nu redelijk droog dus loop ik even naar de brievenbus. Eerste keer in maanden dat ik mijn eigen brieven post.
Ik loop nog steeds op krukken. Het is moeilijk mijn voet goed af te rollen. Daar heeft de fysiotherapeute morgen vast goede oefeningen voor.

Finally some good news / eindelijk goed nieuws

Today an other check up, and the doctor cheered! The wound is closing and I can start walking again. Which I tried, and found out I forgot how. This weekend I shall do some excercises and than physiotherapy will start on Monday.
In the end I found that I needed to put a presure bandage on the wound. No idea of the correct English term. Doesn't matter, it worked!
Hope to be completely up and running again in an other month!
On a different note; had some more internet problems, and I installed a new modem. Yes, myself. Hope that is the end of those problems.

Vandaag weer controle en de arts juigde! De wond is aan het helen en ik mag weer beginnen te lopen. Wat ik natuurlijk probeerde om er achter te komen dat ik niet meer weet hoe. Dit weekend ga ik wat oefeningen doen en dan vanaf maandag fysiotherapie.
Uiteindelijk kwam ik er achter dat als ik een drukkend verband aanlegde het beter ging.
Hoop dat ik over een maand weer in de running ben!
En iets heel anders; nog meer internet problemen gehad, en heb een nieuw modem geïnstalleerd. Inderdaad, zelf. Hoop dat dit het einde is van die problemen.
