Lots of water and pine trees / Veel water en dennebomen

Today we went visiting in the archipelago and I saw Sweden as I always imagined it. Lots of water and lots of pine trees.

Vandaag gingen we op visite in de archipelago en kreeg ik het Zweden te zien zoals ik het me altijd had voorgesteld. Veel water en veel dennebomen.

The twins / de tweeling

are more or less sleeping through the night now, both gaining weight, their mother feeling a bit more confident, and have a more permanent care solution on their way.
Apart from that they now know the secrets of prrttt, and 'klap eens in de handjes'.
Time for me to pack up and go again.

slapen nu min of meer de nacht door, komen beiden aan, hun moeder heeft wat meer zelfvertrouwen, en er is vervolg zorg in aantocht.
Ook kennen ze nu het geheim van prrttt en 'klap eens in de handjes'.
Tijd voor mij om weer in te pakken en op huis aan te gaan.

Not very social

I know, I have not been very talkative lately. The little bits of down time that I do have here I seem to prefer to spend quitely contemplating what stitch to knit next rather than be online..............

So how is ... / En hoe is 't nu met ...

It has been what, 4 months almost since I broke my ankle? Two months since I started to walk again and I've been asked 'how the old foot has been holding up now I am back at work'.
Well, the old foot has been holding up quite well. Yes, I felt it in the beginning. Yes, at times it is stiff. And it still swells up as you can clearly see. Also, the scar turned out plain ugly. What you see along the top section of it are stretchmarks. Never seen anything like it.
Most importantly though, I am running up and down stairs here, pushing a huge pram with close to 15 kilo of baby for at least an hour a day so I would say the old foot is doing just fine.

Hoe lang is het nu geleden dat ik mijn enkel brak, 4 maanden? En 2 maanden sinds ik weer mag lopen.
Er is mij een paar keer gevraagd hoe het met het pootje gaat nu ik weer werk.
Nou, het gaat prima met het pootje. Ja natuurlijk voelde ik hem in het begin. En af en toe is hij stijf. En hij wordt ook nog dik zoals je kunt zien. En ook, het litteken is ronduit lelijk. Wat je aan de bovenkant naast het litteken ziet is striae. Nog nooit zoiets gezien.
Maar het belangrijkste is, ik ren hier trappen op en af, duw een grote kinderwagen met bijna 15 kilo baby gedurende minstens 1 uur per dag dus ik durf wel te zeggen dat het prima gaat met het pootje!

My day off / Mijn vrije dag

On my day off I went....... yarn shopping! And went to my favourite museum here, the National Museum. Had a great fish lunch, and spent quite a bit of the day contemplating what to knit with this yarn.
For those who know: yes, it is Kauni in the rainbow colourway, on Pony rosewood circulars 5 mm I started the forest canopy shawl.



Op mijn vrije dag ging ik.........wolwinkelen! En ben ook naar mijn lievelingsmuseum hier geweest, het Nationale Museum. Ook nog lekker vis gegeten voor de lunch, en de rest van de dag lopen/zitten bedenken wat ik zou gaan breien van deze wol.
Voor de kenners: ja, het is het regenboog garen van Kauni, op rozenhouten rondbreinaald 5 mm van Pony en het wordt de 'forest canopy shawl'.

All is well .............. or is it???

Everybody seems to have bounced back from that nasty bug again and we have been able to enjoy nice weather for being outdoors the past couple of days.
When not outdoors or simply very busy with the twins, I have been keeping an eye on what has been happening in Texas. And I hate that my fears have become truth. They are setting execution dates with a vengence. A few are no surprise as they were stayed while waiting on the Supreme Courts ruling. One really did shock me though: Gregory Wright; September 9th. He has been cleared of the DNA evidence, he passed a polygraph, yet the judge says 'we need more proof'. Yes, apparantly in Texas you need to proof your innocence!
Okay, step by step, we will get there. We will fight to proof this mans innocence. And we will continue to fight to abolish the death penalty even for those who were guilty. Death, is never the answer.

When I was in Texas last, Bobby and I wrote a prayer; it gives me great hope knowing that even under their circumstances, the men continue to find hope!

This is what we pray every morning now:

God hear our prayer
We want to give thanks for an other day given to us
Help us live today in peace and harmony with all around us
And appreciate what we do have more than dwell on what we don’t have
Let us find faith when there is doubt
Show us light in times of darkness
Keep us, and those we love safe from harm
And help us stay true to ourselves
May we look at others with love and compassion
And give them joy
Most of all teach us to understand each other
So we can continue to love and grow!

What it looks like and what it is like......... hoe het er uit ziet en hoe het echt is

This is the back garden here. Seriously. It all looks more than peaceful. The job however keeps me busy. My charges are twins, and the whole household seems to have been bitten by some sort of flu bug. Hence work is busy, not to mention challenging or even creating sticky situations in these times when no one is at their best.
So I think of this view, deep breathly, deal with whatever happens, and think 'this too shall pass'.........

Dit is de achtertuin hier. Echt. Het ziet er zeer vredig uit. De baan houdt me bezig. Ik heb de zorg voor een tweeling, en het hele huishouden is grieperig. Dus er is veel te doen, en niet te vergeten is het een uitdaging nu eigenlijk niemand op zijn best is.
Dus denk ik maar aan dit uitzicht, haal diep adem, en ga door met doen wat er gedaan moet worden, ook dit zal eens voorbij zijn...........
