Special prayer intention of the day

Today Bobby will be re-tested by a state doctor for the evidentiary hearing which will be in June. Of course he is nervous, or actually plain scared as he said in a letter I received yesterday. It is his life depending on this.
So my special prayer intention of today is for him, may he find the courage and strength to walk him through the next few months. And may the courts too see who and how he really is.
And as nervous as I am, I try to get hope from the fact that the state decided to test him once again, despite the testing they have done already. Why would they do so again unless they did not like the outcome they got before???
We should have the results sometime next week.

Sunbathing in the city

We have been having some lovely spring weather here the past week. And what to do when you want to lay out in the sun but have no garden like lucky me? Not even a balcony? You open your window and just let the sunshine in!

Legal???

Often when I tell people abroad I live in Amsterdam their reaction is "ahhhh", nudge, nudge, wink, wink. And just as often they think I am joking when I say my idea of fun is going to church or knitting socks..........
Maybe this helps debunk the myth that smoking dope is the norm or even legal here?

Spring

Arrived home yesterday from my stay in Texas. And when I went out I saw this magnolia tree in bloom. It is a tree I go to look at every spring, to check if it is blooming yet or not. And when it does, it always makes me so happy as to me that is the sign spring is truly here.

Texas bluebonnets

Today is a chilly day in east Texas, an other cold front is moving in. Would you believe I am actually sitting here with the heating on? In April in Texas?
Yesterday was lovely though. We went for a drive and saw fields and fields full of the most wonderful wildflowers. Including the famous Texas bluebonnets.

Our little house in the woods

I've been asked several times what the place I stay at while in Texas looks like. So finally:

This is the front porch where I like to sit with my morning coffee.

This is my favourite of the two swing benches.

And this is the other swing bench and the hammock.

My yellow rose of Texas.................

........ is not only not so yellow........ it is also covered in rain drops! The weather has been plain awfull here. A lot of rain and thunderstorms and the first night I was here we were already under tornado watch. I am in a very beautiful but very rural area here, and I stay in a trailer. More or less right after I arrived there and was busy unpacking things got noisy and shaky. My landlady lives in a trailer right behind 'mine'. She rang me and said 'oh, we are under tornado watch, you know what to do right?' Well, no Ma'am I don't. We don't get many tornados in Amsterdam. So she told me to get a pile of towels, cover the glass doors and go hide in the small bathroom as there I would be covered by 4 walls..... hmmmmm I got everything ready but I must admit, I continued with the unpacking of my suitcase rather than sit in that tiny bathroom for a few hours. I was too tired to be really scared, and pretty soon the weather was calm again. The next morning I learned that they did loose power just down the road. And they are still expecting a lot of rocky weather for the next few days. I'll keep ya'll posted!
